As the world's premier marine safety training facility, the Resolve Fire & Hazard Inc. Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida provides the marine industry and professional emergency service personnel worldwide with the best marine firefighting & marine safety training available today.
At the heart of the program, is the T.V .Gray Manatee, a revolutionary 140' LOA shipboard firefighting simulator designed by the engineering staff of the Resolve Marine Group for Marine firefighting training. The Gray Manatee is fully compartmentalized with over 20 separate compartments, connected to both horizontal & vertical passageways. Additionally, the multiple watertight doors and hatches, an engine room complete with a marine power plant, galley, catwalks, and other design features provide the student with a challenging and realistic training environment.
The internationally approved Shipboard and Marine Firefighting training facility, (approvals include the USCG, NMD, and the MCA), has 6 purpose built fire simulators onboard, and features the world famous "Swedish Flashover Simulator", installed in cooperation with the Swedish Maritime Fire Protection Committee. This one of a kind simulator allows students to observe the development of fire through it various stages, culminating in a true flashover! This is an experience few individuals except professional firefighters ever have he opportunity to witness.
Training includes multiple evolutions with hand held extinguishers, flammable liquids spill simulators (flange fire and
open pit), foam application, de-watering, engine room fires, and a full scenario incorporating a multiple hoseline interior compartment fire attack, search & rescue operations, ventilation and student fire ground command responsibilities.
In addition to providing training to mariners worldwide, Resolve also uses the facility to maintain the readiness of its Marine Firefighting and Emergency Response Strike Team. The team is responsible for responding to emergencies aboard oil and chemical tankers. The team is comprised of professional hazardous materials technicians, fire fighters, salvage divers, and engineers. Currently the team is responsible for providing fire fighting and hazardous material response to over 5,000 ships.
Through the training sessions of the team and our response to shipboardand Marine Fires or other Emergencies, we are constantly developing new marine firefighting techniques as changes in technology and ships construction dictate. These leading edge developments are then passed on to marine professionals through our internationally approved programs, or customized training for cruise ships, tankers, cargo vessels, yachts and others.
Since its inception, RFHR has grown into a world-renowned center that is training over 3,000 mariners per year. We are a Det Norske Veritas Certified Marine Training Center utilizing the ISO-9000 guidelines. All of our programs are administered through a rigorous "Total Quality Management" program. Each staff member undergoes a thorough training and indoctrination program and a Professional Qualification System that is in place at RFH. We are the only center outside of Europe approved by the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, and the United Kingdom Maritime and Coast Guard Agency.
